Fridgeezoo gives a voice to all the critters of the icebox by howling and screaming if the refrigerator door gets held open too long. The gadgets are shaped like little milk cartons dressed up as various cold-climate creatures such as a polar bear, a penguin, a seal or a walrus. Of course, since these Japanese gadgets are probably light-activated, you can save even more energy just by unscrewing the refrigerator light.
There’s not much to like about these Yoga Dogs Pub Coasters. Then again, there’s not much to not like either. Dogs doing yoga. Okay, sure. Unless you have been walking through life with some kind of an aversion to dogs doing yoga these coasters should barely register. Except, of course, for the most dedicated of dog and yoga fanatics. In any event, they exist.
A whisk is certainly a handy little utensil to have floating about the kitchen. From scrambled eggs to whipped cream, it does its job easily and efficiently. That doesn’t mean the design cannot be improved upon. With bunnies, for example.
The Kikkerland Rabbit Silicone Whisks, 2-Piece Set is a whimsical upgrade to a kitchen essential. Both the 8-inch and 11-inch whisks in the set feature red and white silicone construction complete with a molded rabbit silhouette worked into the design. And if rabbits aren’t your thing, they are also available in Squirrel and Bird varieties.
In a perfect world all things would be capable of handling multiple tasks. The Danesco Natural Living Bamboo Rooster Collapsible Fruit Basket is proof that we are moving forward. I never thought hot water and penguins mixed particularly well, but — at least when it comes to brewing tea — this particular penguin takes to it like a duck to water. Place a cup of hot water under the beak, attach either the included tea strainer or your favorite bagged tea, and set the timer. The bag lowers into the hot water, and automatically rises when the time is up.
Able to be set for up to twenty minutes, the Penguin Tea Timer can also be used as a traditional kitchen timer. Perhaps most important of all, as the product description states, at $11.89, the price is not steep at all!
***UPDATE: Flown the coop (do penguins have coops?!?) or left the nest (do penguins have nests?!?) — in any event, this product is no longer available.
Alligators have teeth. Lots of teeth. About eighty as a matter of fact. That’s more teeth than I care to think about, especially as far as alligators are concerned. One would think exchanging those teeth for stainless steel blades would only create an even more terrifying creature, but at least in the case of this alligator, that’s the furthest thing from the truth. Because this little prep gadget is cute.
Instead of teeth, the Mini Alligator features rows of mince-making stainless steel cutting blades. Snapping down like the mouth of an alligator, the kitchen gadget cuts small items like garlic, olives, radishes and shallots into 1/8-inch long sticks. For a fine dice, just take those sticks and give them another run-through, making sure to turn them 180 degrees before snapping down the handle. Certainly a lot more friendly than the carnivore variety — and one whose alligator smile I can actually trust.
***UPDATE 1/7/2025: So garlic and alligators are apparently a thing. The garlic press above is no longer available, but check this Garligator out. Now there’s a cute design you can really sink your teeth into!
