Did you know SMEG stands for Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla? Me neither. Of that, “Guastalla” is the name of the town in Italy where the company got its start. “Emiliane” refers to the province and the rest translates to “Metallurgical Enamelling Works.”

The company was founded in 1948 and now combines retro vintage aesthetics across their appliance line and is available to peruse in the SMEG Virtual Showroom. You can click around and zoom in on appliances in a decidedly modern way.

Shake Up The Fridge With Magnetic Spice Jars

Good Cooking Magnetic Spice Jars

There is a large metal box in your kitchen that (hopefully) doesn’t get hot or wet. As it so happens, this large food storage container also allows for storage on the outside. Yup, it’s the fridge we’re talking about here and magnetic spice jars to decorate its surface.

The Good Cooking Magnetic Spice Jars are an affordable spice storage solution. The little dispensers are mostly made of metal, so they do stick to each other as well as to the side of the fridge. Each one has a see-through lid and openings for pouring or shaking. When it comes time to use, just pluck one off of the refrigerator door and shake — assuming that one hasn’t been playing Tetris on the fridge and the one you want to use is buried at the bottom of a shape avalanche.

Whoa! That is some kinda word up there! Spell it out and it says “abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.” There’s only one way I know how to pronounce that: ab-ca-def-gi-jeckle-mi-nop-kwer-stoov-wix-iz!

If you are interested in getting this most remarkable word ever seen for your refrigerator, luckily it does come in magnet form. However, be aware, for some reason these
Alphabet Fridge Magnets come as individual letters. (It must be because it is too long to fit on the refrigerator door as one word!)

Some people wrap their herbs in wet paper towels, some keep them out on the counter, and then others look to the refrigerator door for inspiration (or at least storage).

The latest to come along is the Trudeau Fresh Herb Saver. Storing fresh herbs and/or asparagus upright, the storage solution calls for a little bit of water to be stored in its base. This model features a small window that makes it easy to see the water level. Opting for affordability and simplicity this herb saver (like its competition) keeps things basic and easy to use. Which is exactly what you want to find when looking for some herbs.

The other players that are fighting for space in your refrigerator door include:
