The Press Release Recipe Done Right
Ah, press releases with recipes. Two great tastes that taste great together. Or at least one great taste. Usually. In any event, the following press release pairs not only a recipe for Spicy Stir-Fried Chicken Salad, but it does so while offering a few tips for wok-cooking. Nicely done, Edgecraft, makers of the Chef’sChoice 1520 AngleSelect Diamond Hone Electric Knife Sharpener.

King’s Hawaiian Carne Asada Torta Sandwich
As far as I’m concerned every press release should contain a recipe. That probably isn’t going to happen any time soon (and actually might not be too appetizing for Dow, Exxon, or say, Applebee’s releases). But at least if you are going to put out a press release with a recipe, do it right. Kings Hawaiian takes the easy way out for their sandwich pictured above and calls for “carne asada spice blend” as one of the ingredients. (By the way a telera or bollilo would be the proper bread to get, but in King’s defense they at least don’t call their creation a torta.) Sigh. Luckily BTKS knows what to do about that.
Read on for the press release, as well as a link for a “carne asada spice blend” that’s worth a try.

Your $25,000 Sandwich

Got a sandwich that doesn’t mess around? (Actually being messy is probably okay, though.) Mezzetta, the pepper and olive people are sponsoring a recipe contest calling for killer sandwiches. Considering that peppers are most likely to be involved, these look to be some flavorful entries for sure. Click through to read the whole press release, including information on how to enter.

Foodland — (BTKS Investigative Reports)–In a display of interdepartmental cooperation, Betty Crocker and Pillsbury have revealed that both brands are in support of 2011 being “Year of the Pie.†Both under the umbrella of General Mills, the two culinary powerhouses have separately issued press releases supporting this finding. Just goes to show the power of pie and BTKS is pleased. Pie is superior to cupcakes, and with the marketing power of a global company, the world will soon agree. Mwahahahahahaha!

It’s Official: Pie Is The New Cupcake
Well, it’s about time. Cupcakes are good and all, but they don’t do savory. Pie is clearly superior. Pillsbury has made it official and has decreed 2011 to be “The Year of the Pie.” Whether or not the company’s low-risk announcement will alter the course of the cupcake trend is yet to be seen, but they got it right by including recipes in their marketing push. Shown above is the Chocolate Chip Cookie Stuffed Pie, and all the recipes can be found at Pillsbury.com/Recipes.
