Wooden ships may float, but wooden spaceships? Maybe. But if you’re using this Flying Saucer Serving Bowl, you’re probably going to hope that it is too weighed down with delicious foods to get up and fly away. Depending on what you’re serving, that is. I’ll pass on the bowl of little green men, thank you very much.

Lily Bird Soy Sauce Bowl has something to say
This bird-shaped soy sauce bowl carries an important message: Tweet! That’s right, now you too can follow BTKS on Twitter. See that fancy new link on the left? That will take you right there.
Meanwhile, while you are here, check out this Lily Bird Soy Sauce Bowl by Alessi. Made of fine bone china, the 4-inch by 2-inch sauce bowl will add a unique charm to your table. But don’t worry, once you set this little bird down to dinner, he won’t make a peep.
Bake your own (ready to fill) bread bowl
If you believe a certain pizza chain, bread bowls make pasta better. While that may or may not be true, bread bowls certainly can be a delicious serving device—especially when you bake the bread bowl yourself. The Better Baker Loaf Bowl is a mold designed to produce breads already in the shape of a bowl. No need to scoop out the inside of a loaf of bread (and then wonder what to do with it) when using this kitchen gadget. Just bake, fill and enjoy—with or without the carb explosion.
Wide-mouthed frog serves up no flies
I had a frog growing up. Well, a frog-shaped cookie jar, that is. I think he had a yellow bow tie. While that distinguishing feature somehow made raiding the cookie jar OK, this wide-mouthed frog has a bowlful of dip in its belly.
The Frog Dip Bowl & Spreader brightens up the party spread. Good for dips and cheeses, the earthenware frog comes with a spreading knife to match. It’s not easy being green, but this little guy keeps trying — hopefully those aren’t flies in that dip!
***UPDATE 12/4/24: This little guy has jumped away (but you can still find him on ebay). The company was Boston Warehouse, so if you missed out on catching this frog, let them know to hop to it and bring it back!
Loopa Spill-Resistant Bowl
Some kids never learn. Or at least it seems like they never learn. Either way, if you are a young parent sick of holding back the tears over spilled milk, check out the Spill-Resistant Bowl. Working like a gyroscope, the brightly colored bowl steadies itself whenever handled. Now when your young one picks up the bowl, the food stays on the inside and not over everything else.
Of course the handles encourage your child to actually grab at the bowl, so there may be some (even greater) awkward dining moments in their teen years. By then of course, you’ll be actively condemning their choice of dates, so really it’s a win-win.
Chop salad right in the bowl — and more
Like many others, I find myself using appliances and tools for tasks that they are not designed for. Be it a screwdriver as a hammer or a fork as a knife, there are hidden uses lurking in all of our hand tools. Sometimes, they are not so hidden.
This Salad Chopper and Bowl from OXO looks to me like it has a second, more useful application. Sure the bowl is great, but I can’t really see myself chopping vegetables inside of it. Some pieces would end up too big, some too small, and all of them oddly shaped. Instead, I’ll choose to chop my salad the old-fashioned way, and serve with pizza strips that could only be cut from such an original salad pizza chopper.
