A Properly Behaved Egg Breakfast Sandwich

Joie Toast Top Egg Shaper

Eggs are rather rebellious as far as food items go. Crack one in a pan, and it will spread out just doing what it damn well pleases. However, as unruly as eggs can be, that doesn’t mean they can’t be tamed. When it comes to breakfast sandwich construction, use the Joie Toast Top Egg Shaper to reel in wayward eggs. By the time the toast is done, you’ll have a well-adjusted egg, ready for it’s place in society the sandwich.

In-N-Out Goes Deep In The Hearts Of Texans

In-N-Out Burger expanding to Texas.

The ongoing Great Fast Food Expansion is one that takes a surprising amount of time. Texas didn’t have In-N-Out Burger. How could that have happened? Or rather, not have had happened. Regardless, it seems like every state should have access to the best fast food. But, I suppose these things take time. After all, California still doesn’t have White Castle (not that that is a bad thing), and those east of Vegas have no idea what Roberto’s is (which is a bad thing).

In any event, the Lone Star State looks to be getting at least eight restaurants in the coming months. Texas, which at times thinks it is its own country, probably doesn’t know how to speak the language yet. Here’s how it’s done, Texans; just say this: “Double-double, animal style, add chilies, fries well-done.” Enjoy, and welcome to In-N-Outland.

• Why we bake some things at 350° F/175° C and others at 375° F/190° C.
• How quickly a pizza will cook if we overclock an oven to 1,000° F/540° C.
• How to initialize your kitchen and calibrate your tools.
• Important reactions in cooking, such as protein denaturation, Maillard reactions, and caramelization, and how they impact the foods we cook.

Denny’s Calls Out ‘Man v. Food’ Star Adam Richman

Denny's Calls Out 'Man v. Food' Star Adam Richman

In a fun piece of marketing, Denny’s throws itself into the ring with Man v. Food host Adam Richman, calling him out to fill up at the iconic diner. For the price of a press release, Denny’s gets to hype its menu via Twitter and Facebook. Plus, if the Travel Channel actually accepts the challenge, Denny’s will donate money to a worthy cause. Even if it is a prearranged bit of hype, the idea is pretty good–and makes me wonder how much it would really cost to fill up on biscuits and gravy. And french fries. And Grand Slams. And…
