Talking Spatula Flips Burgers — Hilarity Ensues
Comedy and hamburgers just go together. Wait. No they don’t. Burgers are serious business. Just ask Wimpy and his perpetual need to pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today (assuming it is not actually Tuesday, of course). When it is burger time, it is burger time; no fooling around.
Unless, of course, you have the Flipping Funny Talking BBQ Spatula by Charcoal Companion. The silly contraption is designed to add a little whimsy at the grill and wise-cracks “9 hilarious phrases” at the press of a button. Looking as much like Drew Carey as a spatula possibly could, the novelty grill accessory is sure to be a hit at the next cookout — if not because of the hilarity, then because it is serving up burgers. Wimpy would be impressed.

Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Spatula
Oh those wacky minds over at ThinkGeek. The good news: the Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Spatula is less than 25 bucks. The bad news: it’s not available yet. The better news? They made a video to promote it. Check it out in all its Star Trekesque glory after the jump and “get ready to beam up that food from a hot pan to a hungry tummy.â€

Spoon Rest Grows Up To Be Spatula Rest
Kitchen countertops are quite useful; they manage to hold up all sorts of things: toasters, plates, utensils, cats. Which is exactly the problem: they are busy little surfaces and as such are not the most cleanliest of places. Yet, while cooking we often end up using the countertop as a place to set down utensils. Oh sure, spoon rests abound, but what about the big stuff? Since you can’t flip a pancake with a spoon, the Spatula Spoon Rest is here to help.

Natural Kitchen Movement Versus The Kitchen Industrial Complex
Boing Boing put up a funny piece last week that really amounts to an anti-kitchen gadget rant. Yes, apparently there is a Movement, the Natural Kitchen Movement. Don’t succumb to the hype: kitchen gadgets are the future. Think of the children!

C is for Cookie, S is for Shovel
One cookie is not good enough for me, but a whole shovel-load sounds perfect. The Norpro Jumbo Cookie Shovel can help make that happen. The oversized spatula features a payload that measures 6.5-inches from end to end, and a long 13.75-inch handle to help get all that extra leverage you’ll need for scooping all those cookies off of the baking sheet. Now they just need to make jumbo-sized milk cartons.

Barbecue Spatula Tongs for easy grilling
Just like it can be easy to overload on the condiments while grilling in the backyard, the tools to cook delicious steaks and burgers can sometimes just get in the way. For quick and easy grilling sometimes all you need is one tool — especially if that one tool does it all.
Williams-Sonoma combines two must-have grill accessories into one convenient tool with the Barbecue Spatula Tongs. With one end of the tool resembling a spatula, and the opposite end armed with an easy-grasping tong, the combination tool makes flipping even the most delicate foods a breeze. Just be sure that now you that you have a free hand, you occasionally set down the ketchup.
UPDATE 6/30/12: It looks like Williams-Sonoma no longer has this item, but here is the very similar (and well-reviewed) GrillPro 40240 16-Inch Stainless Steel Tong/Turner Combination.
