Fine particulate matter like ground salt or pepper is usually not a good thing to keep around camera equipment. The individual granules work their way into every nook and cranny and clog and scratch what was never meant to be clogged and scratched. However, camera lenses are not the only thing designed to be twisted and turned; salt and pepper grinders and mills also share that same atribute.
The Camera Lens Pepper Mill Grinder from Nuop is okay with small particles. In fact, it wants to help. Fill with peppercorns, twist and season. Taking care of camera equipment never tasted so good.
The place: O’Davey’s Irish Pub & Restaurant in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The drink: A Bloody Mary. Time: Now.
TGIF — and Saturday and Sunday. Because that’s how long it will take to get through that crazy bloody mary!
Here’s what the Milwaukee paper says about it. PS: FIVE BUCKS.

Which one of these is not like the other? The question, of course, is a trick: they are both like each other. But don’t worry, if you get the Alessi Duck Electronic Kitchen Timer mixed up with the real thing, the duck will let you know!
Twinkies are coming back. After falling apart in bankruptcy, Hostess Brands Inc. has emerged as a new company, Hostess Brands LLC. Buried in this news is an interesting tidbit.
From the WSJ:
But Mr. Metropoulos and his son, Daren, the co-CEO of Pabst Brewing Co. who is also heading up the reborn Hostess’s marketing strategy, expressed confidence they would be able to find skilled, nonunion workers near the four plants, which are in areas with high unemployment.
That’s right, Beer Twinkies! Finally, we can stop trying to make our own.
Oh, and there’s that whole union debate thing too: Teamsters vs. Hostess.

Ginger and garlic go together like peas in a pod. Or, better yet, they go together like owls and Tootsie Pops. Which through a convenient leap of logic brings us to the Ceramic Blue Owl Grater. Designed for grating garlic and ginger (and Tootsie Pops as well for the adventurous), the handy Mr. Owl is an invaluable piece of kitchen gear for the wise.
Bonus owl fun:
